Liam Digges '23 Wins Maryland Junior Classical League's OREO Coin Carving Contest

Congratulations to alumnus Liam Digges '23 who took home first place in the Maryland Junior Classical League's OREO coin carving contest.  In this competition, students were tasked with using OREO cookies to design and carve ancient Roman coins, and members of the MDJCL community voted on their three favorites.

Calvert Middle School students also competed. Eighth Grade student Matthew K. placed third, and classmates Viv B. and Evan L. received honorable mentions. Well done to all!

Lifelong Friendships Abound For the Class of 2013

As many alumni can attest, the friendships that begin on Tuscany Road are special and lasting.  This is true for members of the Class of 2013 who caught up at The Valley Inn while in Baltimore for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Getting together with Calvert classmates? We would love to hear about it! Send a photo and short description to alumni@calvertschoolmd.org.

Recent Graduates Return for the High School Alumni Black & Gold Games

Young alumni donned their Calvert spirit gear and visited campus for the High School Alumni Black & Gold Games on November 18. Harkening back to their Calvert recess days, the group competed in a variety of games including kickball on Brown Field. The match-up between the black and gold teams was a close one, with much Calvert spirit and sportsmanship on display. It is always great to have our young alumni back on campus!

ILP Leadership Journeys Expand to Include Costa Rica and New Mexico

More than seventy Seventh and Eighth Grade students ventured out of state last month, October 20 to October 27, for four immersive leadership journeys that focused on cultural learning, outdoor education, community engagement, and conservation. Led by Calvert chaperones and partner organizations like the World Leadership School, the Island School, and Experience Learning, the students traveled to West Virginia, the Bahamas, Costa Rica, and New Mexico. The latter two signified an expansion of the leadership journey program, bringing the total number of trips offered per year to five – four this fall and one in the spring.

Family Bingo Night is Back!

On November 17, we filled the Middle School Gym with more than 375 students, parents, friends, and Eighth Grade volunteers for the triumphant return of Bingo Night!

Eighth Grade Students Lead School-Wide Thanksgiving Drive

During this season of togetherness and reflection, Calvert is thankful for the many, many members of our community who rise to every occasion.
This month, our Eighth Grade leaders led a Thanksgiving Drive in support of Paul's Place, the Baltimore Hunger Project, and Moveable Feast. With the help of our community, they collected more than 60 full meals for local families. On November 20, the organizing Eighth Graders delivered these meals to our community partners and spent the day volunteering at several locations.

Calvert Celebrates Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day

Grandparents and Special Friends from near and far visited campus on November 21 to spend time with their Fifth, Sixth, Eighth, and Tenth Age students, and to get a sample of the wonderful activities and lessons our students are involved in during their days at Calvert.
